All --

The nominating and seconding process has closed for the 2016 APS Elections. We have updated the Elections page to include all the candidates running for office, the participating chapters, all the nominations and seconds received, and APS Stamp Talk with Nancy Clark interviews with some of the candidates running. All of the information can be found here: http://stamps.org/Elections

Thanks to all the candidates who have put themselves up for office and to all of the chapters that participated. A total of 176 chapters submitted a nomination or a second, approximately 37 percent of all of our clubs.

Most of the candidates have advertised in The American Philatelist - including contact information and have invited questions and comments. Others have engaged APS members on forums such as this. Please take advantage of their accessibility.

For APS members, ballots will be sent in the May 2016 issue of The American Philatelist - with accompanying candidate statements. This information will also be posted on our website. We hope you will review all of the information and participate in the elections.

I ran into Mick Zais [APS for President] at the February Springfield, VA stamp show. Retired Army General and former College President. Very approachable and impressive! Great insight to APS membership and future direction.

I haven't met any of the other candidates, but all have impressive credentials per their American Philatelist notices. APS should be in good hands.

We have a lot of new candidates this year.

My opinion is APS does not need directors that have free time and willing to be on the board to offer opinions. I would like to see them more involved in fund raising and membership recruitment. What is missing from some candidates is actionable (one of phony words) items to improve APS. Some candidate statements are just resume comparisons in areas beyond stamp collecting.
