I checked Jim Forte's website, and could not find anything that starts with SOUTH , then three unreadable letters, then che and a whole bunch after it. There is no clue on the cover? It looks like a Connecticut town though - I can read the abbreviation CONN on the bottom.

The reverse e is probably part of the word with che like chester

I ruled out S. Manchester because of the great space between the `E`s, but sure enough the leading appears to change there. Good work, John!

Isn`t it a strange cancel, though? One would expect more of the cancel to appear on the raised portions of the card, right?
