It's an Ontario stock transfer revenue from 1935. My circa 1994 Van Dam catalog of Canadian revenues lists it at $1.50 mint, $0.50 used.

Wert, I don't know anything about the stamp
but I like the sharp scan.

Tell me though what are those white dots surrounding the stamp?
Stars in the night sky or dandruff?

lithograving...it is a black paper, but when I lighten up the stamp, it lightens up the texture of the black cardboard..

wert: sorry I forgot to include that obvious piece of information. I am at the office but Eric Jackson uses the catalog number OST18 in his online inventory, and I expect that it's a Van Dam number. Will confirm this evening if I remember!

My trusted Van Dam catalogue from 1984 lists this as OST18. Funny that the name of the printer is included on many of these revenue stamps.

And that is still the Van Dam catalog number from the 25th anniversary edition I have.

And now I want to collect Canadian embossed check stamps, and Canadian revenues generally. Argh!
