OK, I recently picked up a small collection. In the collections was several state of Florida Citrus Stamps, State of Florida Documentary Stamps, State of Florida Advertising Stamps, and lastly a State of Florida Mature Fruit Tax Paid stamp. I would like to design an album page for these. But can find little to no information on them. I know they are not listed in the Scott Catalogs. Is there an online source that I can use as a reference?

Your stamps are pretty much in order on the pages. The documentary are one category. The citrus inspection stamps are in order. And the citrus advertising are pretty much in order (the four categories of these are Orange, Grapefruit, Tangerine, and Lime, followed by the generic citrus advertising). You are missing complete sets and also all of the Tangerine and Lime (quite rare). You also have a bedding stamp. And I should note that you are but scratching the surface on each of these categories, missing values and entire sets.

I understand that I am missing quite alot. This is not my field of specialty. However, I enjoy stamps because I learn about history behind the stamps. Revenues are way outside my norm. Is there another online source that is searchable. I find the State Revenue Society site a bit convoluted and restrictive.

And what's with "DESTROY THIS STAMP AND SAVE ON YOUR OTHER TAXES" ...

... apparently copyrighted by A W Logan, Director of the State Department of Inspections and Registration!

Q/ Could you provide a 600 dpi scan of this stamp, run thru the SCF Free Image Optimizer with [Sharpen] set to 40?

Cheers,

/s/ ikeyPikey

The bottom stamp is a Kansas cigarette tax stamp, C22 in the state Revenue Catalog.

Similar to the OP's scenario, I came across several full panes of the 3c Florida Citrus Advertising stamps along with the cardboard header for the 2c version (a previous owner having 'exploded' the "booklets").

Are these considered to be actual FL State Revenue stamps given that they have a face value, or are they considered to be labels?

The 3¢ pane that you have was used post World War II and CFA16 in the State Revenue Catalog. The advertising fee help fund the Florida Citrus Commission. You may recall Connie Francis on their TV commercials.

Hi WildCardRob!

Ron has already provided the basics, so I will skip that.

The following are a few examples of my pages for Florida. As Ron stated, there are many, many more stamps issued by Florida!

Florida Documentaries: (I just won a D2 30 cent purple at auction, but haven't received it yet! Believe I was the underbidder for a copy of D3 )

Florida Citrus Fruit Advertising:

Florida Grapefruit:

Ooops - just realized this is an old thread

docgfd, your booklet cover is a nice item. I like to add booklet covers and tax stamp order forms to my collection when I can. I also have a pane of those in my collection.

Let me know if you are interested in parting with the booklet cover!

There will be a noncompetitive exhibit of the citrus inspection and citrus commission stamps at FLOREX at the end of November.

Thanks all for the tidbits of information !

StateRevs: The booklet cover and one pane of the stamps are soon to be listed (as separate lots) on ebay, so yes, parting with them will soon become sweet sorrow. I tried to message you via this site, but you've turned off the email function. I'll hold off listing them for a bit until I hear from you.
