This cover has been kicking around for a long time and I can almost make out the cancel but I'm not sure so I throw it back in a box. It has a nice letter in it too. The letter is from one sister to another and I think the writer was hitting the vino because the penmanship deteriorates as the letter goes on. I'm showing the 1st page of the letter if someone wants to see the rest let me know and if someone recognizes the cancel I'd really like to know.
It's a "PAID" in a geometric pattern cancel. There's a Dedham PAID in Shield fancy cancel that's listed. I don't have the Skinner/Eno at hand, but this may be it or a similar cancel. I see what may be faint small stars above the "PAID", so it may be the PAID in Shield with Stars.

I find that reading 19th century correspondence with these sort of phrases is quite entertaining! Few would ever consider using a phrase like that today.
I grew up in Dedham and would be curious to see what, if anything, I might know or find out about the sender. WOuld it be possible to post her name or send it to me via email?
