Country: Mexico
State: Guanajuato
City: Campuzano

Date: 3/1999

Subject: Tourism

Campuzano is located in the state of Guanajuato. There are 597 inhabitants of this town/city. This town is 10 hours away from the southern tip of Texas, USA.

Note: This town is incredibly small and rural. The reason it was chosen for a stamp design is a mystery that I could not uncover during
researching it.

The Kaiser Wilhelm Church of Berlin was almost completely destroyed during the second WW. Berlin issued a set of four stamps in 1953 with a surcharge to support reconstruction.

Welcome Johnny, Perhaps the bell is the main feature in your Mexican stamp - Guanajuato city being known for its many church bells? K.

Only parts of the Kaiser Wilhelm Church of Berlin could be salvaged - a new church with modern bell tower was constructed on the grounds of the ruins. The new church has only beautiful blue stained glass windows. Stamps honoring 100 hundred years of the original church and 50 years of the new (at night it shows the blue better than shown in the stamp).
