I recently acquired two FDC addressed to Dr. W.W. Davidson of Newfane, NY. The covers are not marked as FDs, but the cancellation dates are correct. The cachets look hand drawn and the one illustrated is signed by Wm. D. Davidson.

Does anyone have any background on Davidson? What kind of doctor, MD., Ph.D, DDS, DV., etc ???

There was also another set of three covers for the Army Series on ebay, but I was outbid on those. Has anyone seen other covers prepared by him?

Thanks.

Don

DDS, if the same fellow.

Looks like the same one to me. How many Dr. Wm. D. Davidsons could there be in Newfane, N.Y..

A good start on finding out who he was and what he did.

Thanks. KGB.

I have a subscription to ancestry.com. 1940 census lists him on Main Street in Newfane, occupation dentist, born circa 1903. The Social Security Death Index lists a William Davidson, born April 20, 1902, who died in August 1969, last residence Newfane, NY.

Good info. Many thanks for posting it.

Now, who else has one or more of his covers, or information about his philatelic activities?

These covers came out of Canada. I think he may have had relatives living there.
