I have this postcard that has several postal markings and I would assume that the sender worked at the post office and did this for fun? I've never seen anything like it. I guess it is possible that it went through all of that. I did a little research and found that Hazel Hanson that it is addressed to married a man with the initials C.L.K. and that could be what the initials on the left are. I have confirmed that she was not deceased in 1909. She lived until 1985. I'm doing research to see if maybe he worked in the post office, but then he may have had a friend that worked there or just asked them to do it.

A wise man once said to me: "never ask how they got that way".

Of course, he was something of a heartless merchandise-mover, and less of a collector, but our attempts to unravel the markings on an entire are not always fruitful.

The "DECEASED" seems a little unfunny for a card to a sweetheart.

Maybe he missed Valentine's Day (or her bDay or their anniversary), and this was his explanation of why her card was late.

Cheers,

I have several cards similar to yours. My cards are addressed to the same individual so I am pretty sure collectors sent out cards to different post offices and collected the variety of cancelers that were used. I call mine favor cancels.

I think that Vinman is right. This seems to be something that the sender took to his local post office and asked the clerk there to put one of every rubber stamp he had on it to make it interesting, especially since the sender did not write anything on the card. The clerk agreed to do him the favor.
