Two SOAR (stamps on a roll, i.e. computer-vended) stamps are based on designs of ancient pottery from Ireland's 9th definitive set. The theme is "A History of Ireland in 100 Objects". These computer-vended stamps are from the first such set of 8 SOAR stamps issued in 2017. One shows a Neolithic Bowl from around 3500 B.C., while the other depicts two Bronze Age Funerary Urns from 1900-1300 B.C. |

This 1991 stamp (Sc #2084) of Japan was issued to commemorate "Ceramic World Shigaraki '91". It features a handbuilt figure made of Shigaraki ware, a type of stoneware pottery. From Wikipedia, "The name Shigaraki describes a collective group of ceramic products made in a similar geographic area. Shigaraki ware is said to have begun when tiles were constructed for the Emperor Shomu's Shigaraki-no-miya Palace in 742 A.D." |
