Let me offer you this rule of thumb for converting Australian Scott stamp numbers to Stanley Gibbons stamp numbers - the SG number is either 5-6 or 11-12 higher than the Scott number. Let us check. Scott 18 Australian kangaroo 6d blue is SG 26 ultramarine 6d 2nd watermark. It cannot be SG 29-30 as these do not have 6d value.

How did I get this rule? I took a sample of the first 50 Scott and SG numbers for Australia given on stanleylisica.com. That allows a wide choice of counties. The difference between the Scott and SG numbers centers about 5-6 and 11-12, as you will see.

You can easily repeat this study and find a rule of thumb for your countries of interest.
