Hi guys...Take a look at these 3 cent Small Queens..The cancellation colour on the left stamp is the standard cancellation we always see..But take a look at the cancellation colour on the right stamp is reddish/brown..Never seen that before...What do you think..?

Manuscript cancel where the ink has aged to the normal reddish brown colour normally found on old documents.

On the second stamp there are two cancellations. One is red and maybe slightly oxidized. The other is a pen cancelation probably applied because the red cancelation blends with the color of the stamp. Thia was not unusual and can be found where a red cancellation was applied to a red stamp. I have also seen a red or other color pen cancellation is applied to a black stamp that has received a black cancelation.

Robert, I trust the image here is the stamp you are referring to. That Jim shared with you.

This seems to be a plate flaw in the neck of the Queen. It seems to be a flaw that starts out on early printings quite large and decreases to a small dot in the late printings from the plate it was printed from. This example is from about the middle of the progression.

I will be writing an article about it for Dots and Scratches News Letter for the Re-entry and Constant Plate Variety Study Group of the BNAPS. I also coined it the "Hickey" flaw in the article.

It is not plated that I know of. None of the references I have mention it. W. G. Burden has two copies on his web page. Position unknown Ottawa printing. Note the nine o'clock position dot on the copy above.

The stamp is quite shifted - it could be a 3 o'clock dot on the left stamp. Can anyone explain where on a sheet (or columns) a 3 o'clock dot and where a 9 o'clock dot is found?

I believe it depends a lot on centering. The position dots on #41 3c SQ are at either 3:00 or 9:00 o'clock position on the stamp. They are located between the stamps the reference is for where they are on a particular stamp. I guess if one found a copy of #41 with wing margins right and left you might see a position dot on each side. I have never seen one that exhibited this however.
