This one kinda popped out to me as very weird. The stamps is MVLH. The paper was or appears to be repaired before printing. Was paper so rare that they couldn't afford to throw out a sheet or what. Also wondering if there is a premium for this stamp.

I believe the paper was indeed damaged, but see no reason for this problem other than the inspectors did not catch it. I have a feeling it has nothing to do with a paper shortage!

It's also missing quite a bit of the orange colour around the canoe. Maybe a paper fold.

StevieG you might be onto something the diagonal one by the canoe does look like a fold now that you mention it. But it is still damaged on the back in that area. The one under the Queens cameo though if I bend the stamp just slightly it is loose on the edges with no printing under it.
