Bedeque Prince Edward Island Rpo Postcard, 1907

Another ebay bargain. I bought this because I collect Bedeque PEI postcards. The description did not include the back, other than the card was used in 1907.

It turns out to be a nice RPO cancel, "Charlottetown and Murray Harbour RPO", Jan 23, 1907.

Someone marked "M-14, RF 75". I assume RF is Rarity Factor, though not sure what the scales is - out of 100?

You mean North Bedeque...Right..??
That is where I lived and my relatives lived when I was young.

Robert, actually I collect from any parts of Bedeque. My mother's ancestors (Wright) are from Central Bedeque.

Wow, must be some sort of Metropolis if two of our members are from there! Is there also a South, East or West Bedeque? By the way, beautiful place judging from the great picture postcards.

Peter, before 1900, as per the map below, there was Centreville Bedeque, Central Bedeque, Lower Bedeque and North Bedeque. Centreville Bedeque was commonly referred to as just Centreville, but was later renamed Bedeque. A few years ago, Bedeque and Central Bedeque merged as Bedeque. Now the population is about 300.

As far as North and Lower Bedeque go, I think they are place names rather than villages. Maybe Robert knows better.

BeeSee, interesting. By the way, on the map you supplied did you notice that it is spelled "Noth Bedeque"?

Good eye Peter! I just noticed your post - and never noticed the "NOTH" before.

RF75. Assuming that this is the scale used by Ludlow and other RPO enthusiasts, it's based on a top of 500.

I just found this online in the May 1974 edition of BNA Topics. The information may be outdated, but is quite interesting. The train directions N & S are listed as rare.
