Changed "Active" To "New Posts"

New members never seem to use the active topics page much and it's by far the best tool on the forum. The name change and matching tool tip makes it much more obvious what it does so it will hopefully get more use.

Hmmmmm, okay. Guilty. I always use UNANSWERED as my first pick. I found ACTIVE to have too many listings for my short attention span. But, I'll give NEW POSTS a try.

I love the NEW POSTS button. It's the ONLY way I surf on SCF.

What could be more logical than seeing every new post since my last login. And with NewPosts, they are grouped/sorted by subforum. The Top100 and other methods show the threads, but I have "guess" if they're US, Canada, World, etc.

I have found on another Forum that "New Threads" as well as "New Posts" to be helpful.

Is it possible to add "New Threads" also?

Thanks. This is more consistent with other forum software. Is there a way to mark all topics read?

I used "active" all the time and will use new posts now !
Also, Jerry's idea of "new threads" is great.

The new posts page includes both topics with new posts and new topics since your last visit or reset using the link at the top left of the table.



Also if you click Recent Topics it will take you to the bottom of the page with two separate lists for new topics and active topics. The headers of those lists are also clickable for a full page of 100.

After a few years finally found out how to really use the site. Clicking the "recent topics" header does what I was suggesting. Thanks.

Cool, just a suggestion though, give the new posts page a shot I think you might like it better once you get the hand of it.

I go to active topics, then hold down the control key, and click on all the topics I want to read. That opens them all in new tabs. I go to the last one and start reading, closing the tabs as I finish them. When I get back to the active topics page I click the "Mark all topics as read"" link. Any topics that had new activity since the last load (while I was reading) will now be the only ones that show.
