I don't care if sellers are not allowed to give negative feedback, if they don't have customers they make no money. So good business practice is to give feedback first to the customer.

The way I see it many seller thing we are obligated to purchase from them and they do us a favour . It's not the case, it'S quite the opposite.

So I leave only feedback to sellers who did it first and send me what is describe.

That's one way to handle it. Certainly if a seller doesn't send you what is described you should not leave (good) feedback until the issue is resolved.

If I am satisfied with the purchase and any problems have been worked out, I leave good feedback regardless of whether they leave feedback. Leaving feedback is a courtesy IMO and not a requirement and for me depends on the transaction (not reciprocal patting on the back).

Further, I never leave neutral or bad feedback if there is an issue and it has been resolved amicably.

But we all have particular things that bug us more than others. Feedback's just not one of them for me.

I avoid using the badly flawed and useless ebay feedback system. For feedback, I prefer to send the buyer/seller either an email or ebay message. This allows far more than the few words and is more personal.
If they ever fix the existing feedback system to make it meaningful then I would revisit this approach.

I hardly ever buy on ebay any more, and haven't sold in years.

I lasted about 3 months leaving feedback upon payment. Too many buyers do not read the listings, the have more of an obligation than to just pay. They are obligated to read the listing and understand what they are getting.

After a neutral and a negative for a coin being cleaned when it was stated crystal clear in the description that the coin was cleaned I stopped leaving feedback first.

A buyer that leaves other than positive feedback for something clearly stated in the listing does not deserve positive feedback. They haven't fulfilled a 30 second obligation on Their end.

The system IS flawed.

Rightfully or not, I've always believed that sellers should leave feedback once the buyer has made payment. That is the point where the buyer has fulfilled all of his responsibilities. I notice that sellers will often wait until the buyer has made a positive feedback before providing one himself. Sometimes, even then, the seller will not provide feedback once he has received his positive feedback. Not right.

That's just not true.

If you don't like my scenario above try this one... happened to me many times.

Buyer isn't home to sign for the package three days after he pays. It sits at the post office for weeks and he never picks it up so it's returned to you. Then he leaves you a neutral for non-delivery. This guy deserves a positive for paying promptly? Hardly.

Most of the sellers on ebay don't have any idea what is a real business, in a real business you have lot and have to deal with non satisfied customers. It's not every sales that turn in profit. Also many sellers complain about cost of shipping material, wake up !! that's the only expense they have.

If a seller can't give me an answer to the question " What is your expected lost ? " well it's not a business man .

You give your customer satisfaction, that's start with to be the first to give feedback to show you appreciate their business, not the other way around. and keep in mind many buyer don't sell on ebay , so they don't need feedback. I don't

The ebay feedback system is easily corrupted and misused.

Why would a person believe that the ebay feedback system is meaningful when anyone can simply go buy an existing ebay account with 100% top vender rating, thousands of existing feedbacks? There are a large number of online sites which have been established for years which offer these type accounts for sale.

Here is a section from 'Jobs For Felons - How to find employment if you have a criminal record'

Quote:
Anyone can start buying and selling on ebay. There is an
advantage with online auction sites, a ready supply of buyers.
If you setup a store then you have to convince buyers to come
in. On ebay the buyers are there looking for items to buy. An
ebay business also has the advantage that you can work from
home at least most of the time, there are no background checks…

Plenty of online advice follows for anyone who wants to easily buy 'top rating' seller accounts to start with. So unfortunately when you look at a ebay seller with a top high rating, it could easily be a convicted felon with no actual ebay experience or history.

What is the point?

My point is that yesterday I made 20 purchases on ebay, only 10 sellers give me a feedback before I receive the goods, so for me only those 10 will receive a positive feedback from me.

For me a seller who leave a feedback first show me it'S someone I will have no problem with even if something happen, I know he will make his best to offer a fair solution.

As example; I purchase an Hungarian set recently at $ 125, all the stamps was under $ 1 except 1 and the seller miss ID it. SO the CV value of the set was $ 5 instead of $ 200 , the seller simply refund me and say to keep the stamps ( that I have no use of )

A *** Edited by Staff | The bad word filter is in place for a reason. Bypassing the filter and making the intended word obvious anyway is completely unacceptable. *** seller will have argue and ask to return $ 5 CV worth of stamps if I want to be refund.

I did purchase for over $ 1000 after from this guy, so who is the winner, both. he lost $5 for his mistake but make a lot of $$$$$
