Wow, just wow.

74 bids on this incredibly obvious faked plate block? While I question the experience and common sense of any hobbyists who would bid on this listing, I am astounded that NY Stamps cares so little as to even offer it for sale.

If the 'soak through the back', crazy aligned fake overprint isn't bad enough, the plate number doesn't come close to being a real #674.

One bidder has made almost 70 of those bids.

Not only the overprint doesn't look right but also the multiple gum breakers and plate number may also be wrong.

Maybe some collect such extraordinary differences from the normal.

I sent them a message two days ago, no reply. I have no idea why anyone would support this seller. Just the fact that they state, "Some stamps could be expertly restored, regum, or repaired." should be enough to avoid them.

So, is the whole stamp fake? Or just the overprint? I am looking at the missing horizontal perfs, and that makes me think the whole thing is fake.

It must be that combination of blue overprint, multiple gum breaker lines and different plate number that makes it different than the authentic Scott # 674. A nice Scott # 637 mint plate block got ruined.

Less than 6 hours to go. They never responded to my question. In fact, down below it states that no questions have been asked yet. HA! Get it while you can.

Perhaps some folks think that it is an imperf block; the blind perfs and poor image quality might lead a person to think this.
I am thinking about bidding on this just to make sure that they get it returned as 'not as described'. Of course, I guess it would just end up in a bigger lot.

Four plate blocks are currently being offered by the seller. None appear to be any good. The result will be some bad buying experiences. Any competent US dealer would be able to determine that the blocks have fake overprints. Later on, if a dealer appraising the collection sees fakes of this sort in the collection, the appraised value or offer is likely to be a fraction of what the collection might command otherwise.

Check out NYStamps' history on stampsmarter.com.

Of all sellers listed, NYStamps has the highest number of call-outs for questionable offerings (344) while only correcting 114 of those (33%).

They are miles ahead of the 2nd place finisher - billsbargainstamps - which has a mere 100 call-outs and 37 corrections for 37%.

Complaints and returns to NYStamps resulted in them blocking me from further bidding on their ebay items.

I would advise buyers avoid these sellers. "A fool and his money......."
