Please kindly excuse if I missed any kind discussion about the Koala stamp.
I am new here, organizing my stamp collection and surprisingly found that some of the Koala stamps may worth $300+
https://www.millenniumauctions.com....t_auction=51

I found helpful link:
http://predecimal.nf/kg6/4dkoala.htm

Date Perf Wtmk Imprint

February 1938 13½x14 CA Ash
10 October 1942 15x14 CA Authority 2 line gutter
February 1955 15x14 CA none 2 line gutters
18 August 1956 14x14 none none 2 line gutters

As I understand, the watermark "CA" means the mark that included signs "C of A" as it is shown in the table posted by one of you in another discussion (thank you for sharing!):

Koala stamp that I have:

I would apreciate if you share any literature or your knowledge about this stamp. Thank you.

Thank you for a reply.
I would like to see pics of the rare stamps - with the unique "retouches".
I found only descriptions online - how it looks like, but it is no way to look at the auctions' pics more closely.
Does anyone have the RARE Koala stamps? Can you show on the scans how the retouch looks like?

There's a description of the "no watermark" issue here

http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopi...f=29&t=69685

As Al says, the koala stamps are extremely common. Searching for varieties of this and other common stamps in worldwide collections is likely to be a tedious and frustrating business for a non-expert.

Thank you. It is obvious, you didn't check the link that I provided in my first post here - some of the Koala 4d stamps were sold for $700 or $5,700 .... https://www.millenniumauctions.com....t_auction=51

Understandable.
It is always much easier just walk around and comment that others are stupid and their stamps or interests worth nothing.
God Bless you for your kindness.

Actually, I didn't suggest stupidity or worthlessness. Good luck in finding your rare bears.

The only that I am aimed with is to have a really interesting discussions here - share copies of the stamps and collections, exchange links for studies, expert guidances, etc. I have thousands of stamps, and I am thrilled of studying them all.

Aurora, there is most likely specialized stuff available down under, but going to be hard to find. One thing to try is search on this forum for "Koala". I tried and came up with quite some interesting stuff.
And don't give up, somebody from Australia might still chime in with an answer.

Peter

I have an older ACSC King George VI catalog which has a section on the 4d Koala. The really big value is in the Plate Number Blocks but there are some other plate varieties of interest (and value).

I've added some red circles to try and help identify. The numbers of the pictures identified with 198 are the C of A Watermark, Perf 14.75 x 14. The numbers with 199 are the unwatermarked version.

All of the pictures are hard to see, so you need to read the description and carefully compare to other copies to really understand.

d: Re-entry below base frame
e: Roller shift to "POSTAGE", "4d" and base frame
f: Color spot below base frame right of "E" of "POSTAGE"
g: Retouch to four lines above right of "IA"
h: Color spot below top border right of last "A" of "AUSTRALIA"
ha: Retouch to five lines above right of "IA"
i: Color in last white border segment at top right
j: Color flaw below left of first "A" of "AUSTRALIA"
ja: Retouch to four lines below first "A" of "AUSTRALIA"
k: Crack through top of last "A" of "AUSTRALIA"

I don't have the latest values, plus it is in Australian Dollars, but any of these items are worth 50x the value of the plain stamp. Types g, j, ja, and k appear to be worth about 200x.

Happy hunting!

You are welcome. I don't think that any of your first posts show any indications, but perhaps you can find a good one in the future. (I double-checked my small inventory, and nothing was found ...)

Is there anyone who can tell me if I have anything here. There looks to be a bit of a bend on part of the left 4, have a look and see what you think. Thanks.

Matt

It seems that the 1938 issue has the "bend" in the 4. It's part of the design.

1938 (C of A watermark) Perforation 13.5 x 14

1942 (C of A watermark) Perforation 15 x 14

1956 (No watermark) Perforation 15 x 14
