Thank you again on the detailed comments.

In Sc 15 Mi II A that damage appears to be a result of a hinge attached to the front of the stamp. Under microscope some fragments of glue or hinge seems to still remain.

Here are Scott 16 Michel III:

Perf 12½

Any opinion on these (yes, they are quite faint)?

Ode to the Postman
Menachim Max Mayo "Anatolia"
Part of a beautiful Epilogue, in the lovely hardbound tome,
of a limited edition of 500.
Copyrighted 1990

THE TURKISH POSTMAN
But picture the poor soul working at the Ottoman post office. He was not near as much respected, yet he had to comprehend some of the languages of most of western Europe, eastern Europe, and add to this, the manuscripts of the Greeks, the Armenians, the Ladinos, the Arabs, and a number of Slavic languages. Would we not treasure such a person in any middle-eastern stamp society today? He must then be considered by such a group, more important than the translator of the Rosetta stone. Yet they fade away. These people that were the readers, and writers of our forefathers. We salute you.

Opinion.
I see nothing to suggest anything but genuine.

Thank you again. I keep learning from pretty much every post you make. Do you have an image of what Bes gurus looks like?

Shall post next time.

The pair of us are just standing on the shoulders of others,
I am just reading from a catalogue /s.

HUGE appreciation must go to SCF member "PostmasterGS" whom
translated all my BIRKEN catalogues.
Free and without asking.

Generosity like that is beyond comprehension.

Kuikka,
shall have to pass on the "bes gurus" image
It is in my very expensive, and gorgeous Isfila Catalogue
Unable to lay on the scanner platen without damage to the spine.

Suffice to say if the bottom overprint differs from normal
you have a bes gurus, error.

If I find it in Birken, I'll post.

(my book scanner is packed away at the moment)

Undecided.
Cannot call, the design matches, with most idiosyncrasies
Most importantly, the value figures are accurate.
I don't like the colour, the washy impression.
Maybe it is my inexperience speaking.
But there you have it.

The surcharge is accurate.

The 39th pearl looks like it was oblong, has the top cut off
that line meanders across and down the stamp to the bottom coloured crescent.

There are two curved lines in the bottom coloured crescent ?

I do not have enough examples myself, to suggest anything else.

Any members conversant with Coles and Walker (Turkish Postmarks) ?
I have found a new Postmark, mentioned in C&W (Istanbul)
with a listing as ? they having no image.

The Rarity rating is "D3"
I cannot find any reference to what that may mean
I have had a cursory view over the 4 volumes
yet remain perplexed.
Anyone?

PS: Is there any updates to C&W volumes?

Rod,

Can you give a volume and page for the listing to which you're referring? I still have a copy of C&W from when I scanned them before sending them to you, so I can take a look and see if I can decipher it.

Certainly Postmaster,
feel like a bit of a dunce, not being able to crack it.
Probably really simple in the end.

I am also concerned with 2 things
The Arabic script seems to have initial Brackets? it is supposed to be "Istanbul" if type 107 / 108
Also the number in the lower segment, does not seem to be a "4"
but a "1??"

Perhaps the hammer changed in 1927
Good Luck.
If not I can post on Facebook, to get a read of the script.
