I am new to the forum and would like to know if my stack of old catalogs are worth keeping. I am moving across the country and not sure if they are of any value to other people. Thank you!
I'm packing most of my books before my home is sold. Some catalogs can be worth holding onto. I collect US Locals and I'll strip old cats to keep my data up to date. In general cat numbers can change and you may want to keep tract of your area of interest. Unless you can find someone who collects catalogs I would think about dumping or see if a library could use them.
There is a secondary market for relatively recent catalogs. You could consider selling on ebay or one of the used book sellers as an alternative to dumping them.
Your post is ambiguous, but if you're referring to the "USA Philatelic Catalog" published by the USPS, in my experience, these will not be worth moving. At my local stamp club, you can't give these away. It is a retail sales catalog that has a short life cycle (for example, items listed in the 2016 edition distributed at the World Stamp Show are already unavailable at usps.com), states retail prices rather than asserted market value, and omits many varieties and reference details that most collectors want.
