I spent the past few days sorting out my Mauritius stamps.
The real headache was the 1969-1975 marine life set -- it comes in 3 different watermarks, and two different papers, so thats 5 types per stamp -- and throw in a few inverted watermarks as well.
And on top of that the watermarks are not easy to distinguish, but there are big differences in value depending on the type. So at least there is some reward for all the hard work. |

Another headache in Mauritius stamps is the George VI definitive issues -- many of the stamps have perf 15x14, as well as perf. 14.
Its not an easy one to tell apart without using the perf gauge. |

Spent yesterday placing mounts for my growing Russia collection. Very soothing in its own way. Shopping around for a scanner to document my album pages as I fill them. |

rogdcam,
How long are you letting the mounts sit after placement before you begin adding the stamps. I'm about to begin a mounting project for Austria over the next couple of weeks.
I hope you're enjoying the new Russia collection.

Dale - If I have some stamps ready to place I do so immediately. I can moisten a Hawid, place and pressure it and insert a stamp in it with tongs within a minute or so with no problems. |

I've just begun a new project: Album pages for Albania up to 1945. The pages will be printed on both sides. On the opposing left page is historical and postal history for the stamps on the right page. I include stamps and varieties not usually listed in generic catalogs. The quadrille areas on the 4th page is meant for four transparent mount-strips. There are many rare varieties of the stamps in question, and this enables me to include two in each quadrille section without having to specify which variety in advance. To be printed on A4 158g paper with 4 punched holes (3cm margin on the left side). A few pages of the early issues: |

Today I have finished going through an old stockbook I recently bought. It was only partly filled but I found some nice older commonwealth stamps in there, and a few newer GB that I didn't already have. But this was the best of the lot. An 1860 postal fiscal overprinted 'Inland Revenue', nicely dated 1863. Happy with that! Regards DavidR |

Recieved some BMA Malaya stamps and started to learn about DIE I and II. Pretty easy. Tomorrow I will start learning about the different sorts of paper. A bigger challenge. I did find a stamp with a nice break in one of the lines of the medallion. |

I finally hinged some recent used stamps (about 100) in my US album. I am so far behind. To help with the empty spots, I sent a want list to one of my Knoxville Philatelic Society buddies. He says he can hook me up. He does all the searching and sorting and I get stamps that I need, this sounds like a fun deal. |
