I think I bit off more than I can chew when I started my worldwide airplane/air post collection. It's really hard to put them in order. I may have to come up with a different plan. |

I wonder if Zman has put the collection into a fixed page stock album. It's pretty annoying to keep moving things around if you want to keep some kind of sequence. I have several fixed page stock books, but I don't really like using them. Glassines are great for easy organization, but then you cannot really enjoy the stamps. |

I recall that in my very early days. Then I hit on digitising images, where you could move at will and still enjoy the stamps. The one could mount when decided the collection was substantial. Thematics will always have that conundrum. |

I wonder what the order is? Given the topic, I would think something more chronological (any country) would be more important or eras related to air, |

Opinion. Anything other than Country (Alphabetical) then Catalogue number, would be messy.
Having that sorted, you then add to the preamble, an indexing system to highlight the special interests in your thematic,
Take the ideas from the experts, buy a cheap out of date "Gibbons collect railways on stamps" or "Gibbons collect Aircraft on stamps."
That' s basically how the allegorical designs are presented in an easily understood format.
There's nothing wrong with following an individual format that suits the collector him or herself, but you risk the overall ease of understanding, if you want others to appreciate your work.
I found this with using Spink Catalogue of France, (and Michel) against using my favourite Scott catalogue.
Flipping through pages to identify a particular stamp, I expect to see the year prominent, in bold case, not so with the two mentioned. one has to constantly search for meaningful dates.
Its not a big problem, just an irritation to a smooth and relaxing journey. |

Thanks for all the help. I use vario pages. I separate by continents but haven't decided how to do islands. I do try to put in order as much as I can. Any suggestions are appreciated. |

Just to clarify I should have said Air Post stamps instead of airplanes. My main focus has been airplanes but friends suggested I include Air Post.

About two years ago, I purchased a large collection of BIRDS on stamps. They were organized by genus and species. It was a really interesting way to present the topic, and I especially enjoyed seeing the eagles and the penguins and puffins.
It was a royal pain, though, to reorganized the collection into country and catalog number order |

Quote: It was a royal pain, though, to reorganized the collection into country and catalog number order That's a shame, you would have been well advised to pick up the Gibbons Birds on stamps. Indexing includes Zoological names Allegorical or systematic (extinct birds, Ostrich, Rheas, Cassowaries etc &etc and.. country 7,500 Bird stamps, 1800 bird species. (1988) You can pinpoint any bird on the planet within a trice. I picked mine up for $8 (ex Western Australia Library) I often purchase from their update sales. What I like about Gibbons here, is there is no segregation on postage stamp issuers, included are the Trucial states (Ras al Khaima et al) and REDONDA , no doubtful issuer is left out from what I can see. |

I'm pleased to advise that I had an article on NSW numeral cancellations published in "Sydney Views", the magazine of the Australian States Study Circle. |

Finished mounting (most) of Chile to 1948. I created pages to match the number of spaces from 1947 version of Big Blue Part I, then I used Steiner out to 1948. This was 241 stamps including the 60c block of 25 flora and fauna. I still have a dozen or so that had no spaces in Big Blue Part I, so I'll use Steiner for those or create additional pages. |

I finished up mounting more Egypt stamps and will work mounting Papua New Guinea soon. I also worked on more pages for my ASFEC album. I have most of the easy countries done but now must go back and deal with countries like India, Turkey, etc. |
