Ordered the National Parks souvenir sheet (Sc5080) today. That will complete my MYSTIC 2016 supplement update. (Thankfully!)

Gave a presentation on the Cleveland Streetcar R.P.O. and its postal markings, assisted in dismounting 42 frames of exhibits (including 10 of my own) and helped tear down and store 200 exhibit frames today on the last day of the March Party. I'm wiped out! |

This isn't exactly philatelic, per se, but I'm actually more excited about it than any recent stamp purchase: I made a new shelf today to make much more efficient use of the limited space I have. It's shelf #1 of 3, and when I'm done with all 3 shelves I'll have plenty enough shelf space for a few more years' expansion. I was basically getting to the point where I was putting new Vario G's on the floor as there was nowhere else to put them. By the time I'm done I should have enough extra space for another 25-30 or so Vario G's. The lack of space was basically beginning to hold me back as I knew it would be difficult finding somewhere to put any significant new acquisitions. |

I had started working on an idea to store my stamp mount strips to the replace the Showgard tray. I started with cutting manila folders (now can hold 265mm strips). I still need to find a better tray. The length fits in a shoe box. |

Looking up values of stamps in my collection and notating them so the day after I croak, when my daughters to a stamp dealer for a valuation they'll know he's not ripping them off when he offers 1/10th (or less) of catalog. |

@TheArtfulHinger, Congratulations on your new shelves - I would absolute define that as an activity in the interest of philately . You reminded me I need to get my shelves modified as well. Some years ago I spend quite some time to custom make my current shelves for Lighthouse stockbooks: Now all these stockbooks are being replaced with Vario Grande Classics, and these are just about a few millimeters too high to fit the shelves Here we go again |

GeoffHa - Thanks, I actually considered the 'standard' size Vario album as my first choice - and they would have fitted right into the shelves. However Lighthouse don't make these 'standard'size in the 'Signum' edition, that is with pockets on the spine for labels. (Picture taken at my messy office desk - not be sent to my boss ) I like the look of these Grande Classic Signum folders with labels, and also wanted more durable labels than the stickers I have on the stockbooks I am replacing. So I selected the Grande version, well aware that it would require me playing carpenter again. I guess it is time well spent in the interest of philately (and pleasing my OCD ) |

blaamand - I whole heartedly salute your organizational skills, not to mention what I can only imagine must reside in those albums |

Ah, I see - you got the Grande, which is taller than the Vario, which is taller than the Optima! I don't use the Signum - I have the standard Grande binders, plus some Vario Gigante binders. The Grande binders perch on top of bookcases because they're too large to fit inside them. I think that Davo offers some plastic, stick-on holders for labels, but they may be similar to what you use on your stock-books.

@txstamp - thanks a lot mate. Honestly many of those albums are not very impressive inside at all, but with some better parts in between I enjoy the time invested nonetheless. |
