I finished the "Mystic hacks" of officials and now working on the Airmails to add minor varieties including some of the wet / dry air mails that do not seem to ever get discussed. |

For the last week I've been sorting through two shoeboxes with an accumulation of Belgian stamps. It's enabled me to add 150 stamps to my New Ideal album and taken the recorded total over 16K. I'm closing in on the halfway point. Being hard bound both albums are bulging a bit now so I think I'm approaching the point where it'll probably damage them to put many big collections in, and I've come up with a bit of a plan. Some countries, that interest me more I'm going to put my main collection in other albums. I've already done this for Switzerland and I've also gone up to about 2012. There are several other countries already undergoing this treatment or which will do so. France, Turkey, Austria, the Netherlands and Czechoslovakia have already started where nice printed albums have come across my path, and I want to use Steiner pages and some self made pages for others. I'm filled with enthusiasm! |

Spent the day reviewing and cataloguing a pile of commonwealth on homemade pages from a large lot.A lot of fun. Most impressive were the pages themselves which were painstakingly annotated and illustrated by the previous owner. Not fancy but obviously a labor of love for him/her. |

This weekend I created aa number of replacement album pages for my air mails. I actually need singles for many of the Scenic Landscape versions. I will also need to look for booklets and wet/dry varieties. |

I will be digging into a four album collection that I purchased at an auction. A cursory review revealed a lot of WW varieties that add spice to the mix. Saw a couple of Russian and Danzig multiples with incorrect cliches on one stamp. Also figuring some bids for an upcoming Gibbons auction. Time for lunch! |

Updating checklists for Sweden, Finland and German States so I don't buy a bunch of duplicates at a stamp show this Sunday. |

I've been digging through a pile of used stamps that I got from another collector. I've also got another pile (one pound) that I bought on ebay. It'll take me weeks to determine what I need and what I don't need. Then I'll have to decide what to do with the un-needed stamps. |

Quote: I am sure your kitty licked (to pass the tongue over the surface) all of your "French" stamps Haha, dunno - but for sure I caught her sleeping on my desk across a selection of 25c Sowers that I had already painstakingly sorted into the 7 different types/subtypes. The sorting got all messed up, so I had to do it all again Lesson learned: remember to close the door when going for a break! |

Nothing really. Went to the Red Star Over Russia exhibition at Tate Modern, followed by lunch at an Italian restaurant. However, one of the exhibits was a WWII Russian serviceman's letter, constructed in the triangular form needed to facilitate examination by the censor. As I don't really collect Russian stamps or "postal history", this was new to me - (Picture from the web - couldn't find an illustration of the actual exhibit). |
