I'm going through my big tub of loose stamps. Sorting them in to bags to get ready for my file system and albums. Figured I'd use my down time somehow. |

I'm a web developer. I needed a way to classify all the stamps I received recently. So I decided to create my own system. I still don't know about the numbering system but...
I chose to identify each stamp with a unique number. I then enter the stamp in my online system and insert where it's physically situated I have multiple boxes, books, etc). So, this number is unique for each physical stamp, even doubles.
What I like about this system is that I can link them to what I want and classify them by theme, country, date, etc. It's all done by the database. I'm waiting for an access to an API that will give me various numbers of stamps in other catalogs (Michel, etc). I will then be able to search my entire collection by Michel number, retrieve MY number and where is it situated and get to it fast.
So this is what I did recently. ;-) |

Don't seem to have done much of the fun part of collecting for quite a while. But there is a certain satisfaction in clearing things out and creating space. Sold a fair bit of my Europe and Americas material by auction. Now I'm getting the duplicates of that material on ebay in cheap and cheerful form after plenty of cheap but cheerless scanning. I do have a handful of bids in auctions that are coming up over the next few days, however. |

Spent the afternoon at Kazoopex in Southwest Michigan. Not a big crowd, but a number of dealers with good stuff on offer. Found some great topicals. |

Recalculated the catalog value of my US collection which is probably 90% of the total value of my collection so I kinda calculated everything. Bottom line, I need to up my insurance. |

Remounting a Trinidad & Tobago collection. The Steiner pages that this collection came on are older versions and the boxes are really tight on many. So I printed new pages with more appropriate sized boxes. |

Got to begin sorting through several recent acquisitions that have arrived by mail last week. Great stuff that will fill some gaps in a project to complete the stamp album I started more than 40 years ago. |

Moved a mountain of Machins from one stock book to another to make room for a topical collection a la You Tube Channel's "Exploring Stamps" |

I sorted through a manilla envelop with 1500 all different worldwide stamps. They were all different- not necessarily all good. A few interesting some keepers, but lots of Yemen and Democratic Republic of Korea. Anybody need any wallpaper? |

Several weeks ago, I turned my home upside-down in search of my old Harris Statesman and Harris Canada albums. I hadn't done anything with them in many years, but it freaked me out that I couldn't find them anywhere. Had they been stolen? And if so, by whom and how?
So last weekend I was at my dad's house, sorting through the stuff I'd left there when I moved to my apartment, 29 years ago. Guess what I found in a box in the closet of my old bedroom.... |
