I like the idea of the monthly giveaway that Don's been doing, so I thought I'd piggyback and offer one of my own. I don't know that I'll do one regularly, just periodically. We'll see how much interest it generates.

Unlike the previous SCF donation giveaways I've held, there are no strings attached, no donation required (although I'm sure SCF would appreciate one if you're so inclined).

A month is a bit long, so let's run this through midnight central time on October 15. All those who have entered by then will go into the random number generator and I'll pull a name.

Rules:

1. Anyone who is an SCF member may enter, one entry per person.

2. Enter by replying to this thread with an image of your one favorite U.S. revenue item (stamp, document, ephemera, etc.) from your collection. If you don't have any in your collection, post an image of one you've seen somewhere that you like. Also give a brief reason WHY it's your favorite. What about it trips your trigger?

3. I'll cover postage, both U.S. and international.

The prize for this first giveaway is nothing major, a few random and sundry revenues shown below. Faults to be expected (the $5 Conveyance, for example, is torn).

I'm a new younger collector - but not a child. I don't have any revenue stamps yet, but I really like the George Washington ones - especially bi-colored ones so its very exciting to see you offering up these. But there is even a series I like even more than the George Washington ones and they would be the RV ones. I found them pictured in a scott book at the library. I don't have the range of the stamps but I do have the image of the first one RV1.

Why? Both my Grandfathers worked as auto mechanics for their career after serving in World War II so these stamps make me think of them.

Here is the a picture of RV1 I found on internet:

Ok, I'll play along.
Here's one of my fave revenues from my meagre collection.
NRA Cigar stamp

It's my fave because it's so unusual, and the the NRA logo, very historical.

Great Offer. Not US, but here is one that I got a long time ago (from Londonbus). I never researched further to find out any more information, value, etc. Please use this as my entry.

Reason I like it ... I never met a Hubert.

My favorite is this warranty deed. I collect family documents with revenue stamps. This is to my great great grandfather Rollin Wheeler. The Wheeler clan were very upscale Chicago socialites. The Wheeler Mansion still stands today and was on of the few buildings that survived the great Chicago fire.

Here is one of the covers I have from Calvin T Wheeler who is mentioned on the website.
