In Adobe Acrobat try the printing option "Page Scaling" and select "Fit To Printable Area". This scales the page perfectly for me.

What program is that? My Adobe Reader doesn't have those same settings, so I don't have 'fit to printable area' as an option. Newer version, maybe? Mine is XI. Or is it something the Reader doesn't have?

It is the full retail version of Adobe Acrobat Pro X (not the free Acrobat Reader version). Acrobat Pro X is about $100.

Thanks for posting this resource Dave! I might tackle the UK next! Not sure if you have any interest, but I also stumbled across this resource for machins, which has free pages for them - plus some good information for a beginner like me to help sort and understand them better:

Your other option is to get some A4 paper and an A4 binder. A4 paper will fit any laser or inkjet printer.

I actually prefer A4 paper size. If only the US was metric...

oceanguy: You're welcome. Glad to share. I'll check out the link you posted, thanks!

Don: I was afraid that was it. I don't have the full Acrobat. I'll keep trying.

Dave,
There are plenty of other free (3rd party) PDF Readers that might support a 'zoom' print feature. But be forewarned, installing multiple PDF readers can caused headaches. This is mostly due to the fact that they also install 'add-ons" to your browser(s) so it opens the PDF inside your browser when surfing the web.

If you use PDFs often, it may be worth buying the real application and not just using the free reader (you get what you pay for). Version X is the better buy since it is one version behind and it should come bundled with Adobe LiveCycle Designer. LiveCycle Designer is a great app if anyone wants to directly edit PDF files.

Note: PDF is a technology that appears to be a dead end. This is because few browsers will be supporting it moving forward since you can not display a PDF on small mobile device screens. To work well on mobile devices the PDF page would have to be 'responsive' and they currently do not do this.

So either someone has to come up with a 'responsive' PDF format (which will force a change to every existing PDF file and require them to all be recompiled under new format) or PDFs will become a 'desktop' only format.

If I were investing a lot of my time in working with PDF files I would definitely buy the full application. Software companies long ago figured out the real cost of the software has little to do with the initial cost; it is all about the time a user spends doing tasks. So they give away enough functionality to tease you but hold back the real time savers for the 'pay' versions.

This is why I use Steiner pages... NO scaling, size to fit, A4 etc., etc. etc..
No Hoops to jump through!

No hoops to jump through for you, or any of us in the US. The rest of the planet has problems with Steiner pages, cause everyone else except for the US, Canada and Mexico are on A4 paper size.

It would be nice if people that made downloadable album pages did both US Letter and A4 sizes.

Except that the Steiner pages for Great Britain only go up through 1951. No EII era stamps. Bummer.

edit: I stand corrected. They go through 2014.
