Hi Got this stamp in the mail and the top and bottom are to be straight edges (Coil stamp) but these look like roulette? Any idea what happened here? Some kind of feeder roller marks?

These stamps are printed in sheets and then slit into coils with bridges in between the rows. Could those be the bridges?

Interesting ... judging from microprint & die-cuts, this is the SSP flag (Scott 5052). Have not seen this on other SSP/CCL flag coils.

Yes, I thought so also. I have alerted someone that knows about these things - I hope he can shed some light on this!

I have found these odd cuts similar to this coil stamp. These are 1996 non profit mountain S111. Three stamps have like a roulette tag.

Hey Just wondering if anyone got follow up from the coil club? I have another one matching the 2016 forever stamp from the same mailer.

The "rouletting" exists because the coil rolls are set up as a "stick" which can then have the individual coil rolls broken off. This gives the occasional piece. I don't know if the manufacturers are still doing this, but the one mountain coils shown demonstrate this with just the slight attachment.

OK, you can find all about this new type of "bridging" the coils in the coming issue of Coil Line, the official journal of the Plate Number Collectors Club ( PNC3 ). This is called "Sawtooth seperation" and was first found on some coils back in 2016. It looks like we are now going to have both systems in use for the forseeable future because only one printer is using it. By the way, as of this date we ( PNC3 ) do not know of any dealers that are going to stock this variety, nor do we know if "the Cave" is going to specify these.

How did Frank come up with "sawtooth" for new one? Doesn't look like a sawtooth pattern.

I have no idea, but I think it came from the person who found them back in October.

Hey I noticed some one saying; not sure if the dealers will be stocking this variety, but the two towns by me have these in stock.
