Quote: There were also self-adhesive booklets of these, without die-cut perfs, just straight edges. Petermac...Thankyou. I was suspicious, one cover I had 12 examples, I was not believing somebody would cut or scissor that many. Also the edges were (to me) die cut. Still could not see on latest Scott. $1.49 issue is Sc#2134 2005 Himalayan Blue Poppy Just listed as "Booklet Stamps Die Cut" (not imperf) |

2 beautiful "Arch" stamps, free gift from Rene SCF member, Thank you very much Rene, Page completed. Mint, undisturbed gum, both (especially the 2 cent, Die ll ) evidence, what I thought were "Gum breakers", but I see this evidence of printing by Rotary Press. Horizontal ridges of gum, scanning does no justice to the real effect. Does Rotary printing change the face of the stamp at all (sizes?) or is it just a simple matter of gum and printing ID?. Scott only mentions Rotary Press for the 5c. Thanks. |

Welcome Rod ! am no expert on stamp printing but remember this interesting thread: https://goscf.com/t/61463&SearchTer...wet,printingand there are other good ones also....like these two posted by jogil https://goscf.com/t/56139&SearchTer...d,stamp,sizehttps://www.stampcommunity.org/topi...51672#531267On the 2 cent deep red # 165, from the Canadian Postal Archives: ________________________________________________________________ Printer/Quantity: British American Bank Note Company 477 588 000 Perforation: 11, 8.5 vertical Creator(s): Portrait engraved by Carl Theodore Arlt Based on a photograph by Lafayette Portrait Studios Historical Notice: Changes in the International postal rates, effective 1930, required colour revisions of the 1-cent, 2-cent, 5-cent and 8-cent denominations. From 1st April, 1930, the contract for the manufacture of Canadian postage stamps and postal stationery was awarded to the British North American Bank Note Company, Limited, Ottawa. This is an old- established firm which had not manufactured Canadian postage stamps since March, 1897. This change of contract necessitated the issue of completely new, regular series of stamps with the identical portraits of King George V on all the lower denominations. Portrait of His Majesty King George V by Carl Arlt. Patrick, Douglas and Mary Patrick. Canada's Postage Stamps. Toronto, McClelland and Stewart Limited, 1964, p. 58-60. René |

Thank you.
From what I can gather, then these are indeed Gum Breakers, Rotary Press, slightly dampened paper (shows the vague vertical lines in the gum) Design not evident from back of stamp.
I have not found suitable software for measuring a stamp.

Rod on the 1st #37 page, last row, stamp on the far right........Toronto Duplex....but you just see the killer, not the date stamp. This comes from Hilson and Nixon Book on SQ, while Winmill (The evolution of Imperial Penny Postage and Postal Hx of the Canadian 1898 Map Stamp) mentions in its Duplex chapter that the enclosed 1 in the killer = Ottawa, with 19 thin bars. (?)Your guess is as good as mine !! René
