Hello. I really need your assistance to indentify some stamps that I've got.
First one really make me curious, the problem is that I can find stamp with similiar design, which is odd, because there is no such a stamp portraying dog.
This is my sample:

This is one that looks almost the same:

As you can see they are clearly similar. But no information about poodle stamp, I have searched sales of ebay and delcampe.

My favourite set of stamps showing Sable:

What do I know about this set? It's from year 1982, somewhat rare, pretty high price.

I'm not satisfied with lack of information, want to know more. What can I do to accomplish this task?
How do you usually gather info?

Hi,

the Sharjah stamps are from a set from 1970 (domestic animals, Michel nos. 588-601). The ones pictured are 588 and 590, catalogue value 0,20 €.

The sable stamps are Peoples's republic of China, Michel nos. 806-807, issued on 20 June 1982. Source is Michel online catalogue.

KlausR, Thanks.
I want to know why is this China Sable so high priced, what is the reason behind that? Like 40-50 Dollars on ebay.

Mestea,

got the nos. wrong for the China sable, must be 1806-1807. According to Michel there are 5 stamps, differing in perforation, catalogue values MNH are

1806 A (11-1/2 : 11-1/4): 1.50€
1806 C (11 : 11-1/4): 5€
1806 D (11 : 11-1/4, top or bottom unperforated): 5€
1807 A (11-1/2 : 11-1/4): 5.50€
1807 C (11 : 11-1/4): 7€

There's also a booklet (CV 30€) with
Pair of 1806 C and 1807 C
2x 1806 C
4x 1806 D

Why high(ish) prices? Maybe China is still a sought after area among Chinese collectors?

Klaus

Edit: just had a look in Delcampe, the booklet goes for 29€, the set of two for 8.5 and 14€, respectively.

Hi Mestear,
these are referred to as "Dune Stamps" and basically "Cinderellas" as very few actually carried postage.
The early Sharjah did, but are very scarce and valuable.

In my experience, they abound. In local stamp club auctions, few collectors
actually save them, and they appear in $5 Chinese stockbooks in the tens, and sometimes hundreds.

ebay lists them, but often are wildly expensive, one shouldn't be paying too much for them.
You are welcome to all my duplicates free.

Just send me a suitable address for them, (If you want them)
give me time to open my albums, I havn't visited for a while
not sure how organised I am.
