Leejb1, I'm looking for the name of the town and state for the manuscript cancel, not the destination.

Thanks

I agree. El Dorado, AR. (opened in 1846, still operating).

I looked at El Dorado before, but couldn't see it so I dismissed it. Now that I look at it more I'm starting to lean that way. Now if I could find an example to compare it to. Thanks to everyone for your help, it's appreciated.

I was not able to find which town this came from.

I did find the name Hessie McMahon in a book: https://books.google.com/books?id=J...n%22&f=false

She wrote a letter in 1867 about her feelings of Jefferson Davis

Leejb1, I would have to say it's El Dorado then. Thanks for the help. I did a quick search and here is her grave in Union County Arkansas. The same county as El Dorado. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/f...4494&df=all&

Here's a listing for their daughter Jane born in El Dorado. That's enough evidence for me. Mystery solved.
