Query / Seek.

Scott Specialised Catalogue : Australian Officials (Punctures)

Is there any way I can source this information, without breaking copyright?
Does Chirok sell broken pages?

I have the Scott Specialised US, which is a hefty tome, would the Aust be similar?
I am guessing Asia /Pacific. In which case it would be too hefty and expensive to post.

I just picked up this nice Never Hinged set at Sescal today (Scott 218-221). All well centered, except for the 2 pound, but it has a nice roller flaw, so that makes up for it.

Wow! delicious.
In my opinion the best designed stamp (and set) in the Australian catalogue, followed by the NSW "consumptives"

"Specimen" overprints circa $5.000 ?

Bravo Steve.

( Not au fait with the "roller flaw"...perhaps Rob can expand?)
In my early1977 ACSC "roller flaw below "E" of POSTAGE R5/1 R6/1 was estimated at $250....gosh.

2006

1954 Royal Visit Re-entry (Scott 267, ACSC 308i, SG 272a). We covered this issue in another thread

https://goscf.com/t/54858&whichpage=4#490127

but I thought it would be worth covering again. I picked up another copy, this time a MNH single, at Sescal today.

There are some areas that differ from a normal stamp. Looking at any one of these areas should tell you that you have the re-entry.

These items are not visible on a normal stamp. Here is a normal copy. You can zoom in and easily see that we have none of the features listed earlier.

Just to be sure, though, I sent an email to Ralph at Re-entries.com concerning the first day cover. He came back with,

"Sorry for the delay!

I think this is indeed the known re-entry on this stamp! Just look at the extensions into the first A of AUSTRALIA!

Very nice to have this on a FDC!"

Rob may want to recheck his copy to see if he actually has one of the re-entries. In any case, by doing a little detective work, you can find that a $1.00 AUS Mint Single is actually a $90.00 AUS Single.

Oh, it should be noted that I picked up the single in the discount box for US$0.25.

Hi Partime

Sorry for the delay in responding, had to deal with a few little health related problems. The 380i re-entry you have is well centred ( a very nice stamp) and listed in the ACSC catalogue at $90.00 (well centred specimens normally are sold at a premium).

I checked with my 1954 Royal Visit issues, as well as in my varieties album and do not have any varieties of the 1954 Royal Visit.

Rob

Hi Partime.

Your 3 Coat-of-Arms are very nicely centred.

My copy of the £2 roller flaw is off-centred, it is extremely difficult to find one that isn't off-centred; I've been looking for a well centred copy for many years (8 years) and came up zilch.

Below is the roller flaw from my collection.

They are listed under 271d in the 2015 ACSC and catalogued at $450, I paid $395 for mine, there is one currently on the market in MUH for $250 (I'll be looking at that stamp tomorrow to see if there are no hidden nasties, this particular dealer is notorious for selling hidden surprises).

A few years ago I bought a MUH Tasmanian 1880 1/- Stamp Duty depicting the Platypus from this person. Well, I thought it was MUH, it surely looked like MUH under a normal magnifier.

But I like to be thorough, so had the stamp sent away for a more detailed investigation, the result, it was cleaned and a very small ink smear on the edge of a perforation was indicative of it being cancelled.

The stamp cost me $100, it was worthless, I took it back to the dealer with the test result and got my money back, but kept the result, when I find the document I will post it.

Your £2 roller flaw is a very nice stamp and scarce.

Rob

KG5 Sideface.
Newbie Interrogating Sc #63

Shades etc.
Would my stamp (Stamp 1, Row 2 ) be "RUSSET-BROWN" ?
(not dealt with shades before)

Sc#63 chocolate Vinculum missing (bar of fraction) right hand side
Unlisted so presume "over inking"

Sc#63 chocolate (assumed a "dry print" ..unlisted, so presume "under inked")
check the "c" of "pence".
