This has been in my wife's Croatian family for 3-4 generations. We've googled 'Kara George Stamp' but cannot find this particular stamp or portrait. TIA
RioTemplestowe - your stamp is a voluntary tax stamp from the late 1930's. it is part of a set of 3, with the others showing St. Sava and a child in sailing uniform (symbolizing the Adriatic Guard Youth Organization). these were to help promote the National Educational Act.
redwoodrandy - your stamp is also a voluntary tax stamp from the same period. it is also available in red. these were used to help fund a Memorial to Karadjordjevic Petrovic. I say that it is from the same period (late 1930's) because the majority of the information I can find on these leads to this time-frame. Personally, I wonder if these were possibly earlier (mid 1920's) and used to fund the construction of St. George's Church "Oplenac", which holds the crypt of Karadjordjevic Petrovic.
