Hey All,
I've been writing up numerous early postcards from Denmark. This Scott #72 is a bit weird. It has numerous thin that are between vertical and 45 degrees diagonal. I've circled some of the stronger lines in red in the second image, but there's many more especially very faint ones in the upper right. Is this some sort or plate or inking flaw. Nothing about it in Scott nor Facit. Any ideas?

Look like plate scratches to me. You indicated only the strong ones - I see them all over the stamp especially in the right side border.

Thanks for the confirmation Peter. That's what I thought, but wasn't sure. I didn't see them the first time around when I scanned the whole postcard, but caught it while writing up a description. Yea, there's a lot of plate scratches on this one.

How did they occur? The deeper scratches all appear too long and straight to be dropped tool marks. Did they stack the plates together?
