I'm just curious if anyone feels the same way about this. All of my christmas cards this year have been showing up with a big "Season's Greetings" cancellation, and they've blotted out almost every stamp I've tried to save so far. I usually buy the US stamps all year from the post office, but I tend to skip the Christmas stamps and save copies that come in the mail. This year, this huge smudge of a cancel is ruining many of them. Very disappointing. I may have to go buy them after all.

The post office is definitely going to use up a lot of ink spraying that on! I've gotten a couple of those. Talk about obliterating the stamp! Not real worried about keeping collectors happy with that idea are they? |

All my recent mail has been spray painted too. Sad when you cant hardly ID the stamp. |

I agree. I collect modern US used stamps from the mail and this "Season's Greetings" cancellation makes the stamp almost unrecognizable.
I've been taking my mail to a small-town post office nearby that still hand stamps all of their outgoing mail. They provide a nice-looking more traditional cancellation. |

Received this one today -- by far the sharpest, clearest, least offensive one I've received this year...

I have two covers that are not so bad. One of them canceled the normal way and one with the Season's Greetings blob. If anyone wants a decent cancel on a Christmas stamp please wait for the season to be over and then list the one(s) you need and if I have one I will donate it.

I didn't get a chance this year, so I am by no means superior or properly snobbish, but it is one of the reasons I like to mail them to the special Christmas cancellations every-year. North Pole station, or Snowflake Arizona, etc. If anybody notices or appreciates the trip the letters take, probably not. But at least it feels more proper. |

This just showed up today with a purchase I made on ebay from a seller in New Jersey. That is supposed to be First Class postage in the corner with a pretty pathetic cancel. |
