First check and post to us the perforation guage.
If that doesn't assist, soak the stamp in water for a few minutes to see the Watermark more clearly.

Cancelled NEWCASTLE NSW Aug ??? looks like it may be 00 = 1900

Guess:
It would be an 1888 Stamp (1st Sept) being a Crown over NSW Wmk
Then you have 2 choices P12x11½ or P12

Crack out the Perf Guage

My guess is based on Colour (Yours looks like "Chalky Blue") original was Prussian Blue

ID: Genuine has a Leaf under "W" of NEW, Forgery is blank.
