I have a question for all you Beer Stamp experts. I usually see these with faults. I assume catalog value on these with regard to condition is similar to that of M&Ms? I see the note at the beginning of the Beer section in Scott. I have the opportunity to buy a collection of these or cherry pick. Most have small faults to repairs. He's got them priced 20-50% catalog. I'm usually a stickler for condition, but I'm wondering if I shouldn't pick up some of the higher valued ones even if condition would normally be an issue for me.

Depends on the issue involved. Pre-prohibition era beers often have small faults, and repairs are not very unusual. Most later issues are found F-VF (although they might have a cutout).

The cut out indicates that this was used to show payment of the tax on bottled beer.
