I have recently returned to stamp collecting after a very long hiatus, and I'd like to pick up a few pristine ArtCraft (and possibly other makers) FDC's from the 1930's to the 1960's, if any can still be found. Can anyone suggest one or more reliable sources of pristine material?

Thank you.

You have chosen a great time to find FDC's inexpensively. Overall demand is low. Happy hunting.

Doug Weisz and James McCusker are two of the leading FDC dealers. Artcraft material should be readily available from dealers, on ebay, etc.

ebay would be the best source, in my opinion. Such material is of very little value and so there is no incentive for sellers to create fakes and you can buy them in bulk for very modest bids so long as you pass by on the ones where the sellers are looking for unknowledgeable buyers by setting high starting bids. Take a few weeks and research results of auctions that actually sold to get a good sense of what to bid and what auctions to pass by for having predatory starting bids.

Thank you, everyone! Looks like James McCusker's website has a great selection.

I'm also going to call Washington Press to see what they can sell to me.

Site seems to be working fine. I do not find Prexie FDC listed on Washington Press. Just a couple of Prexies on their ebay store and modern inauguration covers.

The second link is for your want list in their retail store. Also you can type in Prexie FDC, Scott number etc.

Unfortunately, I find only one Prexy. Being popular, Prexies probably get auctioned.

ebay has 279 listed Prexie FDC covers.

ebay has 1,364 listed Prexie covers. (not FDC)

Paul, have you tried the American First Day Cover Society? They can be found at http://afdcs.org and I am sure that they can help you with reliable dealers.
