Is There A Guide On The Values Of Imperforated Stamps

i recenly enquired about imperforated usa surcharge. the foru m seemed split' I now discover I have victoria bantam imperforated left hand side and bottom. any difference?

I have no idea what stamp you are referring to, but most if not all major catalogs list imperforate stamps if they are known to exist. If the stamps are imperf on only one or two sides it usually takes away from the value.

Peter, I don't know about other countries, but partially imperf(unaltered) Latvian stamps normally command a premium over the regular version.

James, I believe you are talking about a British stamp. Check with ebay and Delcampe and I think you will see the same I did. They seem to be cheaper when partially perforated.

When the sheets of the 1870 ½d bantam stamp were perforated either the left side or the right side was left imperforate.

If the left side were imperforate then stamps AA, BA, CA, ... TA would be imperforate at the left side.

If the right side were imperforate then stamps AX, BX, CX, ... TX would be imperforate at the right side.

My very old 1977 SG QV Specialised catalogue gives a premium for stamps imperforate on one side (£6.00 rather than £1.40) as long as the selvedge is still attached to the stamp.

So the stamp is not perforated on the left side plus not perforated at the bottom also?
A scan or photo of the stamp would assist or at the very least the check letters.

Do you have a printer with your desktop or laptop computer? If it's a basic bubble jet, it will probably have a scan function.

... or at the very least the check letters. From that the plate position will be known.
