Do any members know if there exists a list of Algerian stamps that are precancelled?
I wish to make a page, and Scott or Yvert appear not to list them.

Thanks.

Je vous en prie, vieux pruneau. I'll dig out a bit more info for you next week, but I'm now in Paris for a few days of culture and fab food. Sipping a pastis and smoking a gitane on Place de Colette opposite the Palais Royale is my idea of heaven.

..and I'll make do with a generic instant coffee, and an iced Vo Vo.

Whilst there, why not check out some Street Stamp bourses?
Do they still have them?

Always like looking at your pages, reminds me of where I want to be some day on album pages. Is there any country you don't have? Keep up the great work it is very encouraging.

Rod - not sure. I was laid low for part of the time with a tummy bug, so didn't even get to the Ceres and Yvert shops to waste money on accessories and literature. Rue Drouot still has quite a lot of stamp shops, most of which seem to be closed whenever I wander down there.

Hi Gaman,
thank you for your nice words.

I don't think so,
I just collect whatever passes my desk, pass on my duplicates to the Red Cross,
or hide some nice ones as feebies in the Stamp catalogues at the library.

Most countries I have just smatterings.
Turkey and Romania are my most complete, but the fun is getting there.
A collection is "complete" when you have every stamp of that country, your pocket can afford.

Hi Geoff,

That is a shame, I was hoping for a nice yarn, on how you spent time at the stamp bourse.

I stopped at a local bookstore yesterday, (Mount Barker) the old hall is crammed with tomes, one has to shuffle sideways, down the aisles.
Picked up 5 books, for just a few dollars, including Gibbons Birds on Stamps.
Bargain!

No philately at all. Culinary highlight was the duo of black and white pudding at a restaurant near the Palais Royal, where I treated the lady owner to my grammar school French. Obviously provided some entertainment, as I received a free digestif, a kiss and a cuddle!

Grand Consomme Paper (Carton Paper) or Tropical Toning?
Any members confirm France and Algerian stamps shown exist in Carton paper?

Not sure if to keep (album pages) the 2 apparent types.
Noticing Algeria comes with very dark brown mucilage, which also could be tropical toning.

Thanks for any knowledge.

Can't share any specific knowledge but can offer the observation that the 5c on the left appears to be printed with Aniline ink.
