I have a New Zealand #183 with a punch cancel. I assume it was used as a revenue stamp, but can find no mention of it in Classic specialized. Does anyone know more about this usage? Thank you.

Guess:
#183 is 3 shillings, a sizeable amount for the time.
Only punch cancels I am aware of, are Telegraphic.

Either that, or it was indeed a revenue on document, and was punched to place in file.
I prefer the Telegraph receipt at this time.

2 examples fro my database.

Thanks rod222! I am grateful for this answer. Do you have any estimate of value for #183 with a punch cancel?

Sorry, have not bought any NZ for 10 years.
Not up to date with trends.

Going on 25% of Scott, (Violet or deep violet)
I'd suggest around $40
I have no idea how scorned, or otherwise, a punch cancel would be.

Best idea is to save a NZ#183 search on ebay, and watch examples.
You need t0 appraise any other damage on your item as well.
Good Luck.
