I think this is an anchor, cork cancel? Maybe I'm not seeing the bigger picture. Can anyone help me identify the origin, or have more info?

It is a very common parcel cancellation,
the diagonal name of town, is ilegible
Although, some GB specialist may be able to interpret from the length.
