Two errors? The cancel seems to indicate 1919. The second 9 on the right stamp looks different than the other four? |

This issue is rife with varieties; forgeries are abundant, too. One would need a Persifila catalog to know for sure. I have specialized catalogs of most major countries but still reluctant to buy two-volume Persifila, they charge way too much, something like $300.
(Note that postmark doesn't necessarily mean that this pair is genuine. Stamp forgery seems to have been a national pastime in Iran.) |

Morning! 1. The Persi cat runs $200.00. 2. You can find it at http://persi.com3. I will attach a cropped photo of page 137 of the 'expensive' cat that I own. 4. To all readers-Mr. Sadri offers One FREE certification of an iran stamp. No charge. 5. To all readers-Mr. Sadri also offers an 'opinion' via Email-you scan front and back send him an email and he will render an opinion. A very minimum fee is charged-see his web site. Now the stamp in question: An awesome find! Rare to find an error like this still attached-very nice. I cant see the lines above the letter 'P'. If one long line-real, if two-fake. The persi cat has a very minum value on this item-but! Shoot me a price and we will talk. Always on the look out for items like that. Way cool to find them attached-good luck! |

had to crop the top half of the same page, page 137, Persiphila Cat. As seen, in the photo, you can see one line or two lines--I always check here first. Awesome find! |

Last time I checked (that was approx. 2 years ago) they wanted $250 for Persifila catalog, plus something like $40 for shipping. Maybe the price now is $200, I don't know; still, it is way too much, in my opinion. Since I am interested in 19th-century stamps only, I'll wait until they come up with one-volume catalog for classic Iran. |

Persiphila has more than one catalog for sale. The big catalog is $200. Several years ago, I paid $35, plus postage, for their Standard Philatelic Catalog, from beginning in the 1860s to the end of the Qajar Dynasty in the early 1920s. I checked their web site a few minutes ago and this catalog is still priced at $35.
I got it because of getting a bunch of old Persian/Iranian stamps in a collection I bought some 8-10 years ago. The Persian part is still sitting in a folder as I have had other priorities. But the catalog is available for when I get into those stamps.
tvorog: this may be the classic Iranian/Persian catalog that you're looking for. |

Steve,
Thank you for information; I've been on their site. I am only interested in specialized catalogs, though. If they would sell the "big" one for $80 or some other reasonable amount, I would buy it right away. |
