It depends on what is important to you. If you mostly interested in value then NO. If you are interested in stamp collecting, then it is a good assortment to start a collection. And if you are interested in history, then there is a story behind each stamp.

Thank you danko. I was given 8 albums full of stamps from all over the world. These are about the oldest . If these have no value then these albums are most likely paper weights.

If you have eight albums worth, they are no doubt worth something, if only for the sheer amount of stamps they will contain. You could sell them as a whole collection, if you have no interest.

It saddens me though when I read threads like this - suggesting that money is the only measure of value something can have. You probably have historical little items from all over the globe, each a miniature artwork, all saved and collected together - it's a dreadful shame to treat the collection as a paperweight just because it can't be converted into ready cash.

I'm very much with Ringo on this one. 8 albums of worldwide material is the basis for a wonderful collection, to be made for the sake of collecting. Isn't that what we're all about? Otherwise, we're no better than investment bankers who have been scum since at least the 14th century.

Don't necessarily assume that the older the stamps, the more valuable they are. While most truly valuable stamps are pretty old (125+ years), not all old stamps are valuable and not all newer ones are worthless. If this is representative of the rest, you're probably not going to retire or take a trip to Europe. But if you've got 8 albums worth and they're all in good condition, it would still be worth something, at least dinner at a nice restaurant or a night on the town. And if that's not worth trifling with, you could donate them to someone who might be interested in starting a collection. A good candidate would perhaps be a child who shows interest in things like history and geography, etc.
