Hi all! 1. Is this a cinderella? Where from? 2. Is this a cinderella? 3. Is this 2 stamps printed on each other? Unique cancelation? 4. Are these 2 different stamps? They have different signature at the bottom. 5.Are these a case of faded color or 2 different periods of printing? 6.I used nail lack drying UV. Are there different types of UV for the same stamp? Thanks for watching. Rob

Thanks Kuhli, that's a nice idea to alter a previous series and form a new one. |

#1 is an 1875 two paras Turkish revenue stamp for the tax on newspapers and advertisements.
This stamp was applied to the paper before the newspaper or advert was printed. |

#4, the two Mariazell stamps are two different numbers. They wre printed using two totally different techniques if my memory serves me right. Check on http://stampworld.com if you do not have a catalog. Peter |

Thanks, Nigel and Peter. While I found the ref to the Austrian stamps, I couldn't find in both (20130207) Not allowed by the Staff and stampworld any sign of the Turkish stamp, and they usualy show tax stamps. Also, I wonder why there is a date in Franch, and what O.S. stands for. |

OS means it is an "Official" stamp when it stands alone. On your stamp it could just be a person's initials?

#1 OS probably means "Overseas" "Official Service" or similar, it was printed as part of the newsprint Here is the Revenue, as aptly described by Nigel. Revenue Catalogue number by Forbin. |

#4 There are 3 examples of this design, showing the different printing disciplines Engraving Typography (letterpress) Lithography Scott numbers (click image to expand) Sc#622 was printed 2 years later in 1959 If you are using a magnifying glass with your stamps, you can see the difference easily be viewing the value tablets, on the stamps. |

Thanks Rod, even more then I remembered! On 6.1 I can nit give anything definitive. Yes, there are stamps that come both tagged and untagged. There are stamps that come with different kinds of tagging, like overall- and block-tagging. But I am not familiar with these Austrian stamps. One way to post this sort of question is to not mix them all up but ask questions on Austrian stamps separate and mention the country in the title. That way the folks in that particular country know to respond.

Thanks for the advise. I didn't want to flood the forum with posts, or to seem like trying to reach 50 posts unfairly. |
