I'm selling off excess inventory from a collection that has been in my family for a long time on ebay. The collection began it's life in the early 1920's and was actively collected until the early 1960's.

Please stop by and see if anything interests you.

I'm by no means an expert on values IF something is way out of wack please let me know and make a fair offer.

Thanks in advance,
Roger

I would say there are some that are overpriced. The Scott 295 catalogs for less than $5. There are some others too.

Thanks for your input, I really appreciate it! I know $5 is more but I was trying to take into account all of the fees from ebay & PayPal that I'd probably only make about $3 on the sale. Once the ones that end w/o any bids I'll relist in a non-auction setting.

I agree with Battlestamps. Some of the stamps should not be for sale - they are too damaged. Other 'collections' would be better off if you put together items that go together, not just a bunch of stuff that makes no sense.

Good selection, although I'm more into foreign stamps. Looks like you've had success with selling the collection in the Sold Listings. I would like to sell some myself; the shipping and handling is reasonable.

I have a box of Foreign Stamps that I haven't gotten into. I do remember seeing some German stamps from WWII, France, Belgium, England. These were also collected by the same collector. That's one of my next projects in the next few weeks.

Sadly after Hurricane Sandy my Dad's house was broken into and the 2 Foreign Stamp albums were stolen. They caught the 2 career criminals but they were so stoned they couldn't remember what they did with them (black market pawnshop I'm sure).

Thank you for the positive input!

There's an old saying that goes like this "If you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything. Perhaps you should follow it.

I have to agree with Peter and Battlestamps in that there are too many damaged stamps in those pictures, and quite a few are overpriced. I also think the shipping and handling are on the high side. Presentation is everything, and you may want to consider grouping things a little differently to draw attention to the group's subject matter. Good luck!

Thanks for the input! Can you be more specific as to which ones are over priced, so I can adjust? As far as the damaged stamps I have no interest in keeping them so not sure what to do there.

Rebel, the damaged ones make a whole page look undesirable. Take the Columbians. Some of those are not even good spacefillers and they distract from the nice looking ones. Look at the better looking ones, figure out catalog value and then value them at 40-50 percent. Another hint, you have a whole bunch priced at $5.00 and the Buy it now at $10.00. Does not look professional!
I am just trying to help you - in no way am I going to bid on any of your lots unless you have PNC's!

Just a little piece of advice, check with the local library. Hopefully, they carry the Scott catalogs. Check out the sections about condition and also use it to get a general idea of catalog value. Of course, prices need to reflect condition and most items especially cheaper items sell for less. I used your Scott 295 as an example. It only catalogs for $1.00 (2013 cat, but doubt it changed much). Now, something like that can really only expect to sell for 10-20% of cat. so you're looking at a 10 to 20 cent stamp if that as it's really common. It sells for pennies in a collection. I have those stamps on cover and it's near impossible to get a $1 per cover unless it has an interesting cancel or other factor aside from the stamp.

edit - I'm guessing you do have some sort of catalog since you do have a lot of cat. numbers. The Jenny looks nice and a fair starting price.

Thanks Peter & Battlestamps! That's the kind of feedback I needed to get me on the right path. I'm using my old Brookman Catalogs from 1970-71, 1982-83, 1987 as well as the internet. Back in the early 80's I marked these catalogs up with the stamps I had as I transferred the better stamps from this collection into my White Ace Albums.
