Beginners collection. After six months rest from Argentina, time to break out the watermark fluid, and get stuck in again. It's a tough discipline. 1856 Steiner Page 67 Corrientes. 1867 Sc#18A Manuel Belgrano. 1873 Steiner Page 3

Quote: the 12 blue look like a fake Sc# 45 . 46 or 54 Yes, that's what I thought, the design really, is not that close. Just some of the weird stuff that pops up B.o.b. |

From: 'Album Weeds', 3rd edition by R. B. Eareé. 1906 Essay 12 c., lithographed, ultramarine. A stamp something like the illustration, but with a border composed of curves and upright dashes, and without any caps of liberty, is to be found in almost everybody's collection nowadays. I believe the stamp is an essay. It exists imperforate, perf. 12 1/2, and rouletted about 20. I measured mine at Perf 13. 1858 Steiner Page 1. (All Forgeries) |

Hi I had them written as "all forgeries" I have yet to find a link that offers a study on the escuditos (Argentina) Jalil have good images, but just an auction site.
I don't expect to ever get hold of the early issues, I'll use Jalil if I ever have something looking real. The forgeries abound, I have tens of them. It is instructive to show them.
Please post any links that you may find useful.

1954 Steiner Page 16. From around 60 duplicates, I could not source a 20c San Martin Lithograph. May explain the Scott Catalogue raising the value from 20c to $1 |

Quote: Rod, very interesting.....keep it up ! Rene Thank you Rene. Hang on to your hat.........there's 60 pages and I just scratched the surface. Argentina can be a lifetime study, expect to go through 6 tins of lighter fluid. Argentina best worked on in days on, months off. Our local expert Jerry proof reads my stuff Here is just 1 stamp design Scott A88 All the varieties If you added the overprints, you can add another, what 50-60 maybe 70 I have hidden the Scott numbers, so as not to offend anyone. |
