MML- on Delcampe this setting appears to be a default setting of which sellers are unaware. I've based some offers based on the stated parameters and found a few insulted sellers who didn't know this option had been set by default. It varies a lot.

Artful- what really sucks about ebay not having this feature is that sellers often require immediate payment for a BIN lot. Even if you put them in your cart, the system often says seller does not combine shipping.

Can you imagine seeing 7 or 8 lots from one seller and paying $3 shipping for each lot? You end up having to jump through hoops with the seller to get a transaction done.

Really, really dumb.

I've run into this situation. Before paying, I contacted the seller, let him know what the "system" was saying, and requested an invoice that reflected combined shipping. He obliged and I paid off of the invoice.

I think somebody pranked them with a $95K bid and then refused to pay. That may explain the relisting..
Or they have resorted to the Cartel practices :)

I have tracked many thousands of stamp and coin sales on ebay and concealing the Best Offer sale price is a recent development.

You can also check Sold results for a particular stamp sorted by price paid - a zepp for example - and Best Offer sales will often be bracketed between other sales that were not Best Offers, which of course narrows down the winning offer considerably.
