Hello everyone. I have this Bayern Stationery. It is posted to The Netherlands it is 2 Kreuzer plus an added 1 kreuzer stamp. I have to point out that the stamp is not attached, but it definitly belongs there. There is no Year mentioned on either side of the card or in the cancellations unfortunately. But I could figure a few facts. 1) the stamp being not attached shows me that it is a Michel 22 watermark 2, big wavy lines. issued first on July 5th 1875. Kreuzer were used untill 1.1.1876 so that means the staionery was used on the 20 and 21 of September 1875. It was cancelled first on the 20th, then a remark in blue and red pencil was put on it, which I believe reads as: Noch 1 k. meaning another 1 Kreuzer of postage needed. That was put on a day later and cancelled on the 21st of September. Quite a story now the question, why was an extra 1 kreuzer needed? To the best of my knowledge the postal rate was 2 kreuzer for a postcard from Bavaria abroad. so it was correct when posted on th 20th. I hope my story makes sense. Thanks for your input. Kind regards, Johan.

Hello Johan,

Can you confirm the Michel Watermark 2. If this is the case, your stamp is a MiNr.32

Do you have an example of post card 2 Kreuzer from Bavaria to your country?

Below, MiNr.32 WZ 2

Best regards

Sylvain

PS: I'll be back on the subject this weekend. I'm away from home.

Hello Sylvain, Thank you for your reaction. You are right it is a Michel 32 with watermark 2 Big wavy lines. My mistake. I have no example of a normal 2 kreuzer used postcard to the Netherlands. The postal rate should be 2 kreuzer according to the Michel Postal Rate catalogue(Michel Postgebuhren handbuch).

Hallo Johan,

3 Kreuzer rate is good,

So P4 Type II card with Nr.32.. 200 Euro +

I'll give a little + in value due to the double cancellation because it was missing a Kreuzer. If everything is legit.

Good job!

Sylvain

Thank you Sylvain.

I just have found a second card used to The Netherlands with the same combination/postage, it was in an auction.

The only thing that bothers me, is the Michel Catalogue which shows me that it should be 2 kreuzer. This is the last thing that needs to be sorted out.

Kind regards, Johan.

Hello Johan,

The 2 Kreuzer rate was for inside the "Deutsch-Österreichischen Postverein" treaty.

Best regards

Sylvain

Thanks Sylvain.

Everything is now clear. I can write my information card.

The one that was auctioned was auctioned inth 59th Dieder auction. I do not now how much it made. But it is considered rare because examples from the kreuzer time were only possible for half a year. The one in the auction was the only one know send to The Netherlands, that was untill now, the card I have doubled that number.

Once again thanks for your input.
