This is an interesting thread. I collect US stamps, coils and blocks, tied pieces, and miscellany. From the outset I've used Mystic Heirloom albums and pages. While my collection (currently in 10 volumes) is current through 2018, my collection's value and interest (for me, anyway) lie in the classics.

But I'm not crazy about the Mystic album pages. While they offer lots of additional space, the narrative is not very interesting or useful. I'd like much more information about the stamps themselves, not what or who they commemorate. I do make my own pages from time to time, but I'm generally not satisfied with the quality of my work.

So I ask: What albums do folks find to be the best? Do many collectors create their own? I've looked at such products as AlbumEasy, but don't think I have the skills to use the software adequately. Is there a happy medium between commercially available albums and self-generated ones?

For US, I have Mystic but have modified over 100 pages myself. I collect minor varieties so no pre-printed US album meets my needs. I started with a base I could modify easily.

For worldwide, I use Steiner and modify pages as needed. This is the balance I prefer so not constantly creating pages. I like print as needed concept,

Organize? What's that? I prefer the term "pile management".

I have two collections my GB which I collect Chronologically in Spring back binders using plain quadrille (graph paper) pages with hand written notes of date catalogue number and points of special interest. Definitives are kept seperate from commomoratives. Queen Victoria are in a pre printed SG Windsor Album. I have 13 or more Springback binders. All of them have been bought secondhand. though some had never been used. I pick binders in good condition.
The dictionary collection is being resorted into themes like Perforation, cancellation, named stamps. within each theme if there is no obvious order I go back to chronology. I have more catalogues than albums. my stock books contain duplicates; sets and part sets awaiting mounting. If I see a realistic chance of getting a stamp I leave a gap. Lurking out of sight are Box files, envelopes, biscuit tins, grocery boxes and carrier bags full of stamps.
I have twice dropped my biggest stock book and spent tedious hours refilling it so now I put my stock books in home made slipcases, try not to overfill the stock books, and use smaller stockbooks so a spill is not so catastrophic.

I have recently moved to modified (fonts, headings, stamp placements) Steiner pages in Vario F binders. I like being able to print out only what I want, skipping pages that I don't have stamps for.

In the past have used several album brands - Lighthouse, Palo, Scott specialty, Scott international, Minkus & Harris. Like aspects of all of them (besides Minkus & Harris) & some are good for individual country collections but for rehousing my classic worldwide collection decided none of them was what I wanted - various organizational or aesthetic drawbacks to my eyes. Don't want to bore anyone with my thoughts on pros/cons for each but can if someone wants me too...
