So I thought I could get some tips from the Singapore philatelic museum on a shop or 2 to visit while in Singapore. But they are closed for renovations. Can anyone give a tip or 2 for shops in Singapore? I'm looking for mostly classic Singapore, Malay stamps. Older Asia - Chinese , etc. Tks much.

Try the yellow pages. There are about 10 listed. Never been or dealt with so cannot recommend any. There was discussion in 2010 on another site S.B about various dealers with recommended dealers to visit. You can google singapore collector stamps to find them or check it out in the yellow pages. Have fun. https://www.yellowpages.com.sg/cate...ector-stamps |

I had a long layover in Singapore and visited the philatelic museum, but no stamp shops (it was just about the only thing open in the city on a Sunday (it wa a ghost town). |

So I looked in the yellow pages and saw a couple but am a little reluctant without any references. One was too far out and another looked a little strange. We also went to cs philatelic and actually had the wrong building so I called and we are going to try again tomorrow. Still looking. |

I'm sorry that I don't have anything to offer you as I've never been to Singapore but, how about doing a review of any shops you find and visit. It could be of interest to future travelers. |

Hi Stamps4Life,
Yes, CS Philatelic Agency at the Peninsula Shopping Centre in Coleman Street is a good place to go to for stamps and supplies.
I have been living in Singapore for a couple of years and it is the only stamp shop that I know of, have visited, and have purchased from. |

Having some free time in Singapore while my wife was at a conference, yesterday I decided to visit the Singapore Philatelic Museum after spotting it on a tourist map. After a long 45 minute trudge in 32C plus heat, with humidity off the charts, I relished the prospect of the presumably airconditioned museum. Drawing closer I was puzzled by the orange and white barrier in the front but assumed that it was probably the sidewalk being repaired. Imagine my disappointment however as I got closer and the posters on the outside came into view. Nearly two years for renovations! Clive |

Can't help with Singapore, but your topic title says you are also visiting Hong Kong. A few years back I visited Chong's Numismatic and Stamp Co. at 167 Portland St., Mong Kok District, Hong Kong. Cordial reception, you might give it a try.

So I did try CS Philatelic Agency at 3 Coleman St #04-29 Peninsula Shopping Centre Singapore 179804. The gentleman was nice, but not helpful at all. I had with me about 100 pictures of shots of my albums with what I was hoping to fill in some spots of missing Asian stamps. All he kept telling me was that my collection was just cheap stamps with all the expensive ones missing. He kept showing me 2 sets of about 10-12 stamps each of which I only needed 4-5 stamps of the total 25 and that I would have to buy the full sets..... I kept trying to tell him to show me what else he had and all he kept saying was that my collection was cheap. Could be that he didnt have anything else to show me, wasn't interested or didnt understand or a combination ??? He did speak english. Odd seeing as I was looking for Malay, Singaporean, Chineese and Japanese stamps..... Oh well. After that I bagged trying to find any in Hong King and figured when the time comes ill hit up an auction or something. |
